AgeUK Bromley & Greenwich Men In Sheds

Special Announcement:

As the Men In Sheds project moves forward, we can see that success breeds new requirements. At this stage we are looking to expand from our current four Sheds in Biggin Hill, Eltham, Penge and Woolwich.

We are looking for sites within the Borough of Bromley or the Royal Borough of Greenwich that can accommodate us for the full week. It could be a disused workshop, a school/further education campus building, a good sized room in another building  (that doesn't mind a little noise, of course!) or something else I haven't thought of yet!

If you know of such a place, please let me know as I am compiling a list of possibles. My email address is DRoberts@AgeUKBandG.org.uk or I can be contacted by phone on 020 8294 3013.

Thank you all in advance,

David Roberts
Business Development Manager
Age UK Bromley & Greenwich

The Men's Shed concept originates from Australia. Here's a little-known fact - the concept was born on that well-known Australian soap, Neighbours. It brings together older, isolated men into a space within which they can feel comfortable and at ease. In this place they are able to socialise and carry out activities that bring benefit to the local community and charities.

  • Penge in the London Borough of Bromley
  • Eltham in the Royal Borough of Greenwich
  • Woolwich in the Royal Borough of Greenwich and
  • Biggin Hill in the London Borough of Bromley.

Some planned activities include recycling second-hand materials into gardening containers, trugs, bird tables and boxes. We also work with local community groups helping in their projects (including building footbridges, planters, arbours in public parks, etc.)

Men can meet up to use their existing skills, learn new skills, share ideas or just put the world to rights over a cup of tea. It's about friendship, fun and getting out.

We welcome the involvement of volunteers with an interest or experience in any of the following: sourcing recyclable items, woodwork, design, marketing or IT skills.

If you would like further details on the Men in Sheds project, please click here. You can also contact David Roberts (Business Development Manager), Pauline Cahill or Steve Paxman (Project Co-ordinators) on 020 8294 3017.

Men In Sheds will undertake woodwork projects for the public, including community engagements. You can get in touch via our Facebook accounts, via Twitter or you can contact your nearest Shed or Men In Sheds in general on this website. We will be happy to advise you.
